MARANTAU: A journey of heritage, history and culture

Hadiprana Gallery and Maya Gallery are delighted to co-present Marantau - A journey of heritage, history and culture, Jeffrey Wandly’s solo debut in Indonesia. Marantau is a journey through the urban landscapes of Singapore and Jakarta, capturing the familial, historical and cultural connections that flow between Singapore and Indonesia. At this solo exhibition, Jeffry Wandly gave a Private Viewing on 24 September 2026, with a personal tour of his artworks and an introduction to his family legacy.

On 26 September 2026, he held the Opening exhibition with Guest of Honour His Excellency Mr. Kwok Fook Seng, Singapore Ambassador to Indonesia and madam, Mrs. Pearl Lee. The evening was filled with great appreciation from Jeffry Wandly to his mother, his family and friends who supported him. It was also memorable as H. E. Mr. Kwok Fook Seng gave a heartfelt speech about his hope for Singapore and Indonesia working together in preserving the common heritage and improving art relations in the region. 

After Mr. Kwok Fook Seng’s speech, Mr. Jeffrey Wandly told the guests his reasons and inspiration for the MARANTAU exhibition. He admitted that who he is today was the result of his mother’s love, his father’s guidance and his wife, Mrs Masturah's presence. They gave him relentless support and faith in his dreams. 

The peak was the ribbon-cutting ceremony. With both H.E. Mr. Kwok Fook Seng and Mr. Jeffrey Wandly, the crowd gathered to enter the officially opened MARANTAU exhibition. Among the guests of honour were H.E. Mr. Konstantin Obolensky, Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia, Mrs. Afra Trabelsi, wife of the Tunisian Ambassador to Indonesia, as well as the wives of the Ambassadors to Indonesia from Argentina, Brazil, the Netherlands, Thailand and Kazakhstan.
