Here, we can see the meticulous process of painting a batik. The lady sits and blows the "Malam," a wax-like substance, to put the pattern onto the cloth. Beneath her is the stove for keeping the "Malam" hot and liquid. She needs to finish the process fast to ensure the results are even. Mr Johan Abe captured the moment for each stroke of design to begin. The Batik cloth made by the heart and the hands of a devoted artisan who keeps the tradition alive and well.
