Istana and Tirta Empul

ISTANA AND TIRTA EMPUL by Made Duatmika

Istana in Indonesian language means the palace, and Tirta is a Sanskrit word for water. The site is at Gianyar Bali, where the sacred temple was built in 926 AD and has been functioning as the place where the Hindus gained purification through the cleansing of their bodies by the water spring inside the temple. The culture and the belief have become popular even among the tourists. Even non-believers and those outside of the country will visit the temple. Made Duatmika noted this behaviour by painting the buses and vehicles in the background. Emphasizing that the Tirta Empul truly is revered by many.
